Kitchen Cabinet redo

We've been in the process of re-doing our kitchen cabinets for a while now.  We repainted and then glazed them for a little "old world" look.  I'm not really sure you can see that here though.  I love the dark painted trim and kick boards. I think it really bring the whole look together.  Now we just have to repaint the walls....you can see we've been experimenting with colors above the sink.

New Kitchen Floor

This was the easy part as the laminate rested on top of a thin board.  However, the super geniuses way back when that installed the floor decided to put particle board on top of the subfloor. Well, after what looks like some leaking on the floor took place and other kitchen messes that inevitably happen, that was not an easy task to rip that all up. It just fell apart.

In the meantime our kitchen is in our living room.

And it spilled over onto our dining room table. That little cabinet space is my only working cooking space right now.  Needless to say, we are having a lot of sandwiches lately.

Ahhh, the new tile floor

I must say it turned out well!  And the best part was we didn't have to do this part by ourselves!!  We had a great crew do this all in one day (about 12 hours). Now we just have to wait for it to dry, seal it and hopefully move back into the kitchen on Thursday!

Hilton Head

Over the 4th of July the McKenzie family had a get together in Hilton Head, SC. It was a way nice place to have a vacation....beach, ocean, dolphins, great food, beach, relaxing next to the pool, shopping, did I mention the beach?!?  There was so much to do, but plenty of time to do it in so we had a blast, but didn't come home drained. It was great!

We went dolphin watching one day. Rob was way excited as you can see.

We decided to go put-put golfing one morning. It was so humid. We were disgustingly wet by the time we got done. You can see my face dripping...gross.

Branson weekend

 We went to Branson for a long weekend with Rob's parents.  They know a family, The Bretts, that perform there so we went to see their show.  They have a great show that you should go see if you're ever in town.

We went into this shop where they had amazing carvings.  One guy was even carving little ornaments while we were in the store.  He did some amazing things.  Check out this lamp

Branson has a Titanic museum that was pretty cool. They gave you the name of a person that was on the Titanic and while you toured the museum you looked for clues to see if you survived or not.  Unfortunately I did not.

One show we went to was a Kung-Fu show. Rob and his dad bought these Chinese shirts.  Don't you think they look like they are from China?

On the way home from Branson we stopped in Memphis and ate at a place that raved they have the best ribs in town. Sorry....I still think Texas Roadhouse wins out.

Rob is debating over the "Best Ribs" claim also. The ribs lost.

On our way home we went through this weird cloud. The picture looks like it has bad light, but it really did look like we were in the 1970s.  Everything around us was orange.  Weird.

Garden delight

Here are some great things we've been growing lately. I don't understand Tennessee yet because one year I'll get great big peppers and a zillion tomatoes, the next year I'll get 1 little measly green blob resembling what could be a pepper and maybe 5 tomatoes.  I still haven't had great success with zucchini....I mean seriously. Don't those things grow even when you don't plant them?  This year we are having great luck with green beans, beets, cucumbers, green peppers, lettuce and spinach. I got a bowl full of peas (I'm seriously thinking they aren't worth the space in the garden because I never get much from them) and the jury is still out on carrots and tomatoes. Enjoy seeing our spoils!

March Madness

My company gave me free hockey tickets 8 rows up from the middle of the ice. It was pretty awesome.

The people behind us were real winners. They got even better at the end of the game after they'd had a few beers. Apparently drunks know everything there is to know about how to score in a hockey game.

Rob's birthday fell on a Monday this year. So like the good wife I am :) I woke up at the crack of 5 to take pictures of the birthday boy opening his presents. He's so excited, can't you tell?

I promise he's not meditating here- well, meditating which gift to open first I guess!

We didn't plan this for his birthday, it just happened. We got to go to Atlanta and while we were there we went to the Coca Cola museum. We were there for all of 10 minutes because we were in a hurry and the lines were long so we made a mad dash straight for the tasting room. We got to try some of the different flavors of coke products there. Beware of Italy's sprite and basically all of the ones from Africa. I found Apple Fanta again! I wish they sold that here in the states.

Oh yeah, and I'm blonde again.
